Since the launch of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of characters, and a gripping narrative showcasing divine entities, evil spirits, and malevolent powers expanding in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Spoilers for Episode 3 of this adventure lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
The third episode concluded with a dramatic pause and introduced the premier party of heroes who will branch out from the central cast to embark on their independent quest, apart from the additional parties.
This warrior group consists of Teor (brought to life by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
Considering a large ensemble, it was evident from the start that keeping everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
Hence, the initial installments of this story serve as an Introduction, weaving together the individual narratives before branching into three distinct groups: Fighters, Strategists, and Seekers.
What Defines the Combat Party
According to the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for adventurers who enjoy a classically intense fight-heavy story mode where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Upon first impression, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might appear mismatched, but the events of the latest installment make it clear why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
First, the group has a clear idea where to go next after a brutal initial meeting with the enemy group.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose demise initiated the campaign’s events—manipulated the enemy for his selfish purposes, invading the hidden lair, attacking the character, and stealing all the enchanted items to sell off.
The antagonist then cleared his liabilities and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each member has a personal reason to depart the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, desires revenge.
- The adventurer has experience in Timmony and warns that it is a nasty place.
- Tyranny and The healer, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to kill the fighter and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- Yet, their status as important members in House Halovar could assist the team enter areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The fighter pledged a eternal obligation to The cleric for his salvation and will now go with him anywhere.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are hunted by the rulers that govern Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- Thimble and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and The cleric turned against the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by the clan.
This results in them little choice but to head to the northern region in quest for the antagonist.
Future Episodes
Based on the recent installment’s Cooldown, we find out that the warrior group won’t be around next week, leaving the remaining eight cast members to round up the Questers and Strategists groups.
Audiences can expect discovering which players will be assigned to which table in the story’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
